Micky van de Ven Brace Ends The Toffees' Run at Brand New Home Ground

The Tottenham defender scored on two occasions as Spurs prolonged their winning streak in away games in the Premier League and handed Everton their first defeat at their new home.

Everton were undefeated in their five previous fixtures at their recently opened stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, having departed Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the conclusion of the previous campaign.

But the video assistant referee stepped in, advising the match official to review the score on the pitchside monitor and the official ruled that Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye were in an illegal position and had impeded with the Tottenham goalkeeper.

The win moves the manager's side up to third in the division, five points off north London rivals and table-toppers Arsenal.

Everton remain in 14th position and are half a dozen points clear of the drop zone.

Spurs breakdown: The defender excels in duties at each end of the field

After a drab weekday performance in the European competition against the French side, where they managed a only two shots on target, Frank opted for Randal Kolo Muani in attack instead of ex-Everton forward Richarlison.

The new arrival was failed to influence the game before being replaced for Richarlison after an hour on the pitch, but it turns out he wasn't needed in the final outcome.

The club's new home had been a happy hunting ground, but it seems the novelty may have worn off slightly and fans flocked to the gates after the midfielder's final goal for Spurs.

The end in the team's unbeaten home run won't be a massive worry for David Moyes, but their attacking woes are.

Beto and Thierno Barry - the Everton's pair of recognised centre-forwards - had scored only one league goal between them before Sunday's outing.

And they were failed to contribute to that miserable record on a wet and gloomy evening on Merseyside.

Beto's performance was summed up when he opted to bicycle-kick a golden opportunity from close range, even with having room and opportunity to readjust for a more conventional shot that would have challenged the keeper.
